Diesel and hybrid versions of the Porsche Panamera are expected in 2011

Porsche plans to launch two other versions of the Panamera in 2011. Resounding success of the German model has led the Germans to decide to introduce a 3.0-liter TDI V6 bi-turbo, which will develop 300 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. This engine variant will be launched in Europe next year. Audi A6, A7 Sportback and A8 spearhead will also be equipped with diesel engine that will benefit the Panamera.

Also, Porsche wants to launch in 2011 a hybrid version of Panamera, which has under the hood a V6 3.0-liter TSI gasoline, which is able to deliver 333 hp, accompanied by an electric motor that develops 47 horsepower. Porsche Cayenne is equipped with the same hybrid drive train.

Matthias Muller, Porsche president, said that in the future Panamera could dispose of a power outlet for lithium-ion batteries, met in the hybrid version. Porsche has developed such a concept and Muller said he has been the head of this project and that he was impressed by it.

Matthias Muller mentioned at Los Angeles that Porsche is likely to introduce in the future a four-cylinder engine on the
Boxster and Cayman ranges. Muller said the engine from 911 could be reduced in size. Porsche boss also talked about possible collaboration with Bentley. He made some statements about Porsche's intention to move some production to China, to be able to meet orders.
