Volvo Trucks has announced that will compete for the title of fastest hybrid truck in the world. But to enjoy of this title, they will have to overcome two records in terms of speed: average speed of 166 km/h and top speed of 206 km/h.Swedish truck will be able to develop maximum power of 1,900 horses and will be equipped with a 200 hp electric motor. Torque developed by the four-wheel colossus is 1100 Nm. The pilot that will try to jump above these speed records will be Boije Overbrink. This will happen in 2011 spring.
Overbrink is planning to build this truck since he holds the title of the driver of the fastest truck per kilometer equipped with an engine up to 16 liters.
The final model has under the hood a 16-liter Volvo engine, which is equipped with two turbines from Volvo Penta. Powertronic gearbox was replaced with an l-Shift to allow interaction with the electric motor.
