Stuttgart officials have released the new details about the future SLK. The new SLK will be released next year in January.Germans have revealed informations about about the latest safety systems that will be seen on the famous model. One of these is "Attention Assist". It monitors the status of the driver. This includes over 70 parameters. Level of sleepiness and inattention are just a few of them. The new generation SLK will also have the system "Adaptive Brake Lights."
Two other very useful system with which the Germans wish to increase the safety of future SLK customers will be "DISTRONIC Plus" and "Pre-Safe." These are constantly monitoring the road parameters and how the other road users behave. When unavoidable situations are identified, these systems prepare the vehicle for immediate impact.
The new SLK standard version will benefit of the "Intelligent Lighting System" and "Speed Limit Assist".
The "Speed Limit Assist" is designed to detect speed limit using a video camera, which identifies traffic signs. On the future will be implemented a passive safety system that provides pedestrian protection in a frontal impact, by raising the roof with 85 mm.
Mercedes SLK will be available in two engine versions, the first consisting in a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of delivering 201 horsepower. The second version is called the SLK 350. SLK 350 will be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 propeller with direct injection. It produces 301 horsepower.
