2011 BMW M3 Lightweight Concept could go into production

Although this was considered by many as an April joke, the new information indicates that fans of the Bavarian manufacturer could get a serial version of this concept quite well received by the public.

The model will debut later this year at M Festival which will take place during the 24-hour race at Nurburgring. M3 Lightweight may have a weight similar to the M3 CSL.

The concept is a sedan version of M3 GTS coupe. Besides a very low total mass, the new M3 will have a generous stud, the first rumors say that the German model will hide under the hood somewhere at 420 ponies (309 kW). Unlike the standard M3 and M3 GTS, this will have changes to suspension, brakes and exhaust.

So much for the much much awaited 2011 BMW M3 Lightweight concept.
