The next generation Audi A2 - a total weight of only 800 kg (1,763 pounds)

According to Autocar sources, the next generation Audi will be a really special one. The model will weigh only 800 kg (1,763 pounds), 95 (209 pounds) less than the original version of the previous generations and 25 (55 pounds) less than the version 1.2 TDI 3L of the previous generation.

An Audi employee told Autocar that in the first phase the model could be presented as a concept and that it will benefit of many high-tech systems.

German engineers could implement on the Audi A2 the new Space Frame Material A2 platform, which is based on MLB-Evo platform, which is a mixture of aluminum parts with plastics reinforced with carbon fiber. Finally, the MLB-Evo platform will be taken by all models of the German manufacturer, from A4 to Q7.
