Official: Meet the new Audi Q3

Audi has provided the first images and information about Q3. It is the smallest SUV in the Ingolstadt manufacturer's range. Direct opponent of the small SUV will be BMW X1.

As dimensions have to be realistic, no chances of victory on a terrain with maximum difficulty, maybe not even medium, given on such a terrain even a Land Rover Freelander gives you emotions.

The model is based on the PQ35 platform implemented on the VW Tiguan. It has a length of 4.39 meters, a width of 1.83 and a height of 1.60 meters. The trunk has a capacity of 460 liters, but if the rear seats are folded down, the value reaches up to 1365 liters. The model is more like a city toy, which can be worn on a little more difficult roads, from my point of view.

On the aesthetic level, the model takes existing design language of the manufacturer's newest models. We see some elements of the Cross Coupe Quattro concept, launched in Shanghai in 2007. The front shows a very imposing chromed trapezoidal grille, a series of LED lights, some headlights with a pointy. The back is similar to that of Q5, but taillights lines represents a different element. Customers will have available a set of 16 and 19 inches alloy wheels.

The model will have a 2.0-liter TFSI engine, with a version of 170 horses (125 kW) and a variant of 211 hp (155 kW). In the case of the latter one, sprinting from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) is made in 6.9 seconds while top speed is 230 km/h (142 mph). Those interested in diesel options will not be neglected at all, there are available two versions: a 144 hp unit, which boasts an average fuel consumption of 5.2 litres/100 km (45.2 mpg). The second option offers a stud of 177 horses (130 kW).

Quattro AWD system remains an option for all models. DSG transmission with seven reports is available only on the 2.0 liter TFSI unit of 211 hp (155 kW) and 177 hp (130 kW) TDI.

Audi Q3 will be assembled at the Martorell plant, near Barcelona, which is owned by Seat. The model will be present at the Shanghai Auto Show this year.
