2011 Detroit: Chevrolet Sonic 2012



Chevrolet recently introduced in Detroit the 2012 Sonic generation, which in Europe will continue to be called Aveo.

The fresh facelift shows a more elegant design than the old generation. The interior has also undergone modifications. Customers will enjoy a Bluetooth system, heated seats and other useful items.

The new Sonic features two engine versions: a 1.8 liter unit that provides 135 hp (101 kw) and 168 Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque. The second variant is a turbocharged 1.4-liter able to deliver 138 horsepower (103 kw) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque.For the the first variant are available a 5-speed manual transmission and six-speed automatic and the turbo version is assisted by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Chevrolet Sonic is equipped with a MacPherson strut front suspension. On the back the American engineers have installed a series of drum brakes and electronic power steering system.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic will be assembled at the plant from Lake Orion, Michigan and the market debut will take place later this year.
