Ford Focus electric version was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show

Ford has unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the electric version of the famous Focus. The model will debuit on the U.S. market this year, but unfortunately the Europeans will have the chance to buy it only from 2013.

Comparing with the classic version of the Focus, electric model has a grille that contributes to a more efficient
aerodynamic coefficient.

Ford Focus EV is equipped with an electric motor capable of delivering 125 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. The unit is powered by a lithium-ion battery of 23 kwh. Charging batteries takes about 3-4 hours in a 240-volt outlet. Comparing with other electric models, Focus EV's batteries are cooled with liquid. This causes their temperature to remain at optimum level and the performances and life
battery will reach a maximum level.

Sherif Marakby, one of Ford officials, says that although it is an electric model, customers will enjoy the same benefits offered by a traditional vehicle. Fresh electric version of the Focus is equipped with six airbags and electronic traction control system. Ford also offers MyFord Touch technology for the new model, accompanied by a Sony audio system.
