BMW will turbocharge all four-cylinder petrol engines

4-cylinder engines will benefit from the turbocharger will develop up to 241 horsepower. More powerful engines will be the new six-cylinder units.

All four cylinder engines will be based on the new
block alumninium generation met on the 2.0-liter engine, with different variants of power and engine management systems.

The new block will have a different cylinder lining which is fitted with iron sprayed to a thickness of only 0.3 mm.

Four-cylinder turbo engine of 241 horses, will make its debut this week on the X1. It will have a twin scroll turbo.

4-cyl smaller units will benefit of a conventional turbocharger.

The new four-cylinder engines will provide between 310 (229 lb ft) and 350 Nm (259 lb ft) of torque.

Harmful emissions will be reduced from 219 g/km to 183 g/km.
