Audi is preparing a rival for BMW X6

According to Autocar sources, Audi will launch in the future a rival for the BMW X6. The model will be called Q6. It will take the Colorado platform, implemented on VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne.

At the Geneva Motor Show from this year, Audi boss Rupert Stadler said: "We can imagine a model between the Q5 and the Q7... a coupe like, four-wheel driven model.”

What reinforces even more the idea that we are dealing with an opponent for the X6, is the fact that Audi subsidiaries in North America and China have urged the German company to develop an SUV to rival with the BMW X6.

If this model will be launched, it will be offered with V6 and V8 engines, both petrol and diesel.

There will also be an RS version of Q6, which will rival with the X6 M. Q6 RS model will be equipped with the new turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 gasoline motor, which will debut on the next-generation RS6 at Frankfurt Auto Show in September.

Audi sees great potential in this model due to massive sales that BMW X6 had, the total number amounting about 110,622 units sold. In 2010, the BMW X6 has been sold in 43,322 copies including 3082 X6 M units.
