VW Golf may consume 2.3 liters per 100 km (100 mpg) in the future

VW aims very high in terms of fuel economy and harmful emissions. As the pollution laws pressure increases, VW Germans want by 2020 to have a Golf 2.3 liters/100 km (100mpg) consumption. German hatchback may have a CO2 emissions figure of 75 g/km.

European Union intends that by 2020 all cars on the streets of the Old Continent not to have a higher average consumption than 95 g/km.

The proposed model of VW will borrow many technical elements from XL1 concept, but it is possible to receive a future version of two-cylinder hybrid motorisation.

Low consumption and low pollution levels could be achieved through the implementation of improved technology in terms of fuel and light weight materials, thus drive train could have an enhanced power.

Volkswagen officials claim that ecological Golf should have a notable friction reduction and a more effective aerodynamic. Also, the total mass must be significantly reduced by the excessive use of carbon fiber.
