Volkswagen recently presented at the Qatar International Auto Show a very interesting concept, which has a consumption unable to do anything but get you smiling. The XL1 is also the design direction for the German giant.

This concept has been presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 as the 1L. But the Germans have decided to give him some changes and a new name. As soon as you see it, your mind flies to the future Scirocco. If you look closely, you will see how the next Golf salutes us from a future more or less distant. XL1 has a range of 35 km, if the electric motor is powered only. CO2 emissions are reaching the value of 24 g/km, in average regime.

Aerodynamic coefficient value is 0.186. Vertical opening doors may not be introduced on the serial version of this model. The concept was made of carbon fiber polymers, which typically feature significantly increases on the price range. Germans do not give up, they say they will launch a production version of this futuristic concept. To reduce costs, they will use aRTM process, meaning advanced composite molding. This system is patented by German carmaker and its suppliers.
