Those from Autocar managed to get the first pictures and information of the new Opel Astra OPC. Opel Astra OPC model will have as a rival the Renault Megane RS.From an aesthetic point of view, the new OPC takes many elements of the Astra GTC Paris, presented at the Paris Motor Show last year. The back of the performance variant presents a rear deflector, which emphasizes its sporty nature. Profile is sprinkled with some pretty elegant and sporty lines.
Regarding the engine, the new model will be offered with a 300 horsepower engine, 50 more horses than the old model. Astra OPC will benefit from a modified chassis and a new differential Quaife type, designed to replace the electronic one. The front suspension will be HiPerStrut type, the sort that equippes the Insignia model.
Production version of Opel Astra GTC will make its debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, it will arrive in showrooms in early 2012. Opel Astra OPC will be launched in Geneva in 2012 and commercialization will begin in summer 2012.
